What am I expected to bring to each doctor’s visit
so my insurance(s) will be billed properly?
Bring your current insurance card(s) and driver’s license. Present these to
the receptionist
upon arrival. Always update home address and phone numbers after changes
have
occurred. Review the patient information sheet that the receptionist
provides
and verify that the information listed is correct. Why
has it
taken so long for my insurance to pay the claim?
Mid Michigan
Physicians sends claims to the insurance companies on a daily basis. We
cannot guarantee when your insurance will process and pay your claim. The
time frame becomes longer when more than one insurance company is
involved.
Mid Michigan Physicians will mail you a patient statement with your balance
due after the claim has been processed by your insurance company
(s).
What is the difference between an office visit and a preventive
(yearly) exam?
The insurance carriers have what we call a “50% rule”
when it comes to preventive (yearly) exams and office visits. When a
patient
is seen for a preventive exam and an active problem at the same visit which
ever service, preventive exam or active problem, that resulted in greater
than
50% of the visit, is the service that is billed to the insurance
carrier.
Will my services be covered by my insurance policy?
Mid
Michigan Physicians cannot guarantee coverage of any service provided. It
is
the policyholder’s responsibility to know and understand the coverage
provided
by their insurance company. When you have a question about a service being
covered we recommend you contact the customer service department for your
insurance company. The phone number for customer service is usually found
on
the back of your insurance card.
Why is my insurance
rejecting
the
claim stating another carrier is primary?
Insurance carriers
have
rules to determine which insurance policy is primary when a patient is
covered
by more than one policy. When this rejection is received we recommend you
contact the customer service department for each insurance company and
provide
them with your coverage information. Once you are informed by the
insurance
companies which policy is primary contact the Mid Michigan Physicians
billing
office at 517-913-7020 or complete Inquiry Form and we will rebill the
claim
to the appropriate insurance carrier.
How long does it take to
get
a printed copy of my medical expenses for tax or other purposes?
Generally this request can be completed in 7 to 10 days,
however in
the months of December and January the expected time frame could be up to
14
days.
